County Council for Thingoe South and District Councillor for Horringer
Karen is the Operations and Business Manager, Cambridge Clinical Research Centre based at Addenbrookes as well as an NHS Covid 19 vaccinator, County and District councillor. Karen is currently Chairman of the Suffolk Pension Fund committee. Since being elected she has worked with local communities to reduce the speed limit in 4 areas and helped improve drainage, upgrade roads surfaces and rights of way in rural villages.
Karen was elected to Thingoe South Division in 2017, the Division includes 20 hamlets/villages south of Bury St Edmunds. The Wards of Barrow cum Denham, Chedburgh, Rougham, Horringer & Whelnetham are within the boundaries of Thingoe South.
Karen was elected as a district councillor for Newmarket North in 2020 and was proud to represent Studlands and the northern part of Newmarket. In the May 2023 Elections Karen stood for District Council in Horringer and was duly elected.
Having been a director and trustee of local companies, schools & charities, Karen chose to give something back to her local community and feels that parishes need a greater say in the future of their area. Karen says ‘It has been a privilege to work with the Theatre Royal, Local parish councils, community groups, schools & many other groups. She feels that outreach, health and social care is vitally important to local communities’.
