The Barrow and District Branch of the West Suffolk Conservative Association encompasses many of our rural communities that border the town of Bury St Edmunds. It is two years old and has a thriving membership of over 80 members. Its membership reflects the new County Council division of Barrow and Thingoe which was created in 2024 as part of the Electoral Commission's redrawing of political boundaries. The newly drawn boundary does not take legal effect until after the County Council Elections which are scheduled for 1st May 2025. Currently a number of communities form part of the neighbouring Association but will become part of the West Suffolk Conservative Association after 1st May.
The following villages are currently included in the Barrow and District Branch:
Barrow - Hawsted - Denham - Great and Little Saxham - Brockley - Chedburgh - Westley - Hawkedon - Stansfield - Chevington - Wickhambrook - Dalham - Hargrave - Flempton - Lidgate - Hengrave - Ousden - Icklingham - Horringer - Lackford - Iskworth - Risby - Nowton - Rede - Depden - Great and Little Whelnetham -
Once the election has taken place the following villages will then become part of West Suffolk and the Barrow and District Branch :
Fornham All Saints - Fornham St Martin - Fornham St Genevieve - Great Barton (North and Severalls).
The Branch Chairman is Simon de Laat who is also a member of the Officer Group of the Association.
